Who Should I Call Today?
June 19, 2008Another ‘gem’ from the OBFF Growth Day today:
Rick Ciaramitaro was sharing about a personal practice he picked up: every day when he sits down to work he has set his Outlook to pop up a reminder saying “who should I be calling today?”. He asks the Holy Spirit to direct him to any leader, church member, fellow minister or friend that he should call to pray for and encourage. He said that it is amazing how many testimonies have come over the years of people who were tremendously impacted by this simply practice.
What I love about this principle is that it really combines strategic thinking and Holy Spirit leadership. From time to time I have done this and really seen some cool things happen but it has been hit and miss. By “planning to be led though” I can be much more consistent. It also helps because as your circle of influence grows it can be harder and harder to know who to connect with and when. This way you allow the Holy Spirit to lead you to do a little bit each day that builds over the months and years to having a large impact.
This also reminds me of the importance of discipline – an individual will never maximize their potential without a high level of discipline.
