Speaking of Fast Company…

April 23, 2008

I was also reading about their site redesign – they have moved away from a ‘here is our magazine’ site to developing a social community site designed for their readers. You can comment, start your own blog, read others blogs, join groups to discuss ideas you are interested in etc.

This really got me thinking regarding our church site, and church websites in general. I’ve been reading a lot about how Web 2.0 is all about user interaction and contribution and yet how many church sites are still geared towards ‘information’ and maybe have a message board? We are not there yet (man-power wise) but I look forward to the day when our main website becomes even more of a community for those who are part of our spiritual community.

I wonder if there are churches out there that are already ahead of the game on this one… I’m sure there are but I bet over the next couple years we are going to see a whole lot more coming. It will be interesting to see the innovation that is developed.

Are you aware of churches that are using this? Please share.
