Creative Ministry: Manga Messiah
February 21, 2008Last week I met with a really creative kids pastor Dave, who passed on a number of resources and tips to me for our church as we grow.
One that I absolutely love is called Manga Messiah – it is a comic book telling the story of Jesus through the ‘manga’ form (Japanese for comic but has come to mean the distinctive style). It is produced by Next Inc., a non-profit corporation organized for the world wide production and distribution of biblically based manga materials.
You can read an interview about the project here.

Wow, thats such a great idea.
I like it! Thanks for the info, maybe I can tare my kids away from Naruto.
Peace,
Well, I saw this at work the other day, and just HAD to google it to find out more.
I’m not suprised that someone out there has finally touched on a ‘ministry’ that most seem to ignore, the ‘fanboy/geek’ audience ^_^ (being one myself).
However, I don’t know if I’ll pick up a copy, though. I just can’t get past the idea of Jesus being presented as a bishōnen (look it up
Honestly, I actually DO like Jesus being … no, not bishounen, but downright biseinen. XD I dunno, most descriptions of Jesus say his physical appearance left a strong impression in people.
Lest you think I’m misguided, I’m a geek girl and a Catholic born and bred.
biblical descriptions
of jesus say that there was nothing at all
special about his appearance, anyway doing a
comic to reach people is a really awesome
idea
